An Advent prayer

Praying during Advent

Heavenly Father, the Mighty and Most High God,

We praise and exalt Your Holy and Righteous Name today.
Humbly, we bow before you to worship in the beauty of Your holiness.
Our hearts are full as we meditate on You loving us so much (in spite of our sins, transgressions, and rebellion) that you would give Your Only, Special and Unique Son, Jesus, to die on a cruel cross to reconcile us back to Yourself and give us peace. We are amazed by Your grace.

We are so thankful that we are no longer your enemies but your children. For, once we were not a people, but now we are the people of God; once we had not received mercy, but now we have received mercy. In fact, surely goodness and mercy follows us all the days of our lives. What a gracious God you are! Thank you that Your compassion never fails and in fact, we see new mercies every day. We praise You, Father!

So thankful that the sentence for our war crimes has been rendered and we have been found justified in Christ, just as if we never sinned. We thank You that there is now, no condemnation for those who are in Christ.

O Heavenly Father, please accept our love and gratitude for every stripe Jesus endured on our behalf. We are thankful that He looked beyond our fault and saw our need.

We commit to you that we will live as peacemakers who sow in peace to raise a harvest of righteousness. Because Jesus lives in us, we will turn from evil, do good, and pursue peace.

Father, we thank you that because of Your Holy Spirit we can allow the peace of God to rule our hearts. May your peace dwelling in us manifest outside of us to a dark and dying world that Jesus lives and is the answer to our deepest need, to be at peace with our God. Thank you for Jesus being the Way to that peace.

In the Name of Jesus, we take our stand against the enemy, refusing to let go of the peace Jesus has died to give us. We are so blessed that You did not give us the spirit of fear, but of love, power, and a sound mind. We commit to keeping our minds stayed on Jesus believing Your Word. He shall give us perfect peace.

Father, we so look forward with anticipation and expectation Jesus’ Second Coming and the perfect peace of the New Jerusalem. We thank you for the better day coming! We bless Your Holy Name for the shed blood of Jesus who purchased our new home for us. We sing Hallelujah to the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!

In the Great and Awesome Name of the Prince of Peace,
Jesus the Christ,
Amen.

Just those who have an additional 2 minutes and 28 seconds, let’s worship in song.

Worthy of worship, worthy of praise,
Worthy of honour and glory;
Worthy of all the glad songs we sing,
Worthy of all the offerings we bring.
You are worthy, Father, Creator.
You are worthy, Saviour, Sustainer.
You are worthy, worthy and wonderful;
Worthy of worship and praise.
Worthy of rev’rence, worthy of fear,
Worthy of love and devotion;
Worthy of bowing and bending of knees,
Worthy of all this and added to these.
You are worthy, Father, Creator.
You are worthy, Saviour, Sustainer.
You are worthy, worthy and wonderful;
Worthy of worship and praise.

Almighty Father, Master and Lord,
King of all kings and Redeemer,
Wonderful Counsellor, Comforter, Friend,
Saviour and Source of our life without end.
You are worthy, Father, Creator.
You are worthy, Saviour, Sustainer.
You are worthy, worthy and wonderful;
Worthy of worship and praise.

Amen and Amen.
