18And all who heard it wondered at the things which were told them by the shepherds. 19But Mary treasured all these things, pondering them in her heart. 20The shepherds went back, glorifying and praising God for all that they had heard and seen, just as had been told them.
Our God gives us opportunity after opportunity to experience wonder. It is our responsibility to make certain that they lead to even greater encounters with God.
Celebrating CHRISTmas is more than a short emotional season. It is a celebration of Jesus and the new life He died to give us. We see this in Mary’s response and we understand that it was different than the other responses because the Scriptures say, “BUT Mary.” But Mary TREASURED ALL THESE THINGS, PONDERING THEM IN HER HEART. It seems that Mary’s wonder led her to deeper thoughts and greater blessings.
Blessed is the man
Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly,
Nor stands in the path of sinners,
Nor sits in the seat of the scornful;
2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord,
And in His law he meditates day and night.
3 He shall be like a tree
Planted by the rivers of water,
That brings forth its fruit in its season,
Whose leaf also shall not wither;
And whatever he does shall prosper.
Speak, Lord, Speak! Your Word is my delight!
I will ponder, and obey!
