Matthew 27:51 (NIV)
51 At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom.
Blessed be the Name of the Lord!
Today’s verse gives us great reasons to rejoice:
- At Jesus death, the curtain that separated The Holy Pace from The Most Holy Place, the place of the presence of God, was torn by God Himself. We know it was torn by God because it was torn from top to bottom. Jewish tradition says the curtain was as thick as a man’s hand. No man could have reached into glory to do this. God did it because that is one of the reason came to die.
- This brings the good news that every man can now come into the presence of God through a new and living way.
“Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water.”
- Have you ever took the time to ponder what this must have been like for the Jewish believers…to no longer sacrifice lambs, bulls, goats, turtledoves? To no longer put aside money to purchase these animals? To no longer smell the blood? To no longer wait your turn to go one of thousands of priests to tell him your sin, a priest who needed to get washed up himself before he could tell God? This was all just a shadow of My perfect work to come.
- Absolutely amazing! Jesus says,”it is finished!” I died to give you a new and different way. The old has gone and My new, once-for-all sacrifice has come.
I have paid it all. You can now come boldly to the throne of grace, any time night or day! I’m available to give you rest for your weary soul.
- How about this?
Hebrews 10:16-18 (NLT)
16 “This is the new covenant I will make
with my people on that day, says the Lord:
I will put my laws in their hearts,
and I will write them on their minds.”
17 Then he says,
“I will never again remember
their sins and lawless deeds.”
18 And when sins have been forgiven,
there is no need to offer any more sacrifices.
He has appeared to do away with sin by the sacrifice of Himself. Hebrews 9:26. SHOUT NOW with the voice of triumph! Shout with the voice of praise!
