More Than a Minute

This post was a blessing to my heart as it prepared me for a Thanksgiving Day of worship!

More Than a Minute

Dear God

I see this quote all over the internet and Facebook… and I get it!

It is an absolutely good thing to come into the presence of God without a ‘work it out for me’ list! A blessing to have a relationship with The Lord and just want to spend time with Him, that’s the way God designed it. A blessing beyond words to seek the face of God instead of His hand! I love that message!

It’s that MINUTE to simply say thank you, for ALL I HAVE that has a hard time coming out of my mouth.

take a minute…

take a minute

I did the math!

The Lord has given us 1,440 minutes today.
Surely, we have more than one minute to say thank you for ALL I HAVE.

The Lord gave us 10,080 minutes last week.
Surely, I should have taken more than a minute to say thank you for ALL.

Thanksgiving Day is Thursday and The Lord will have given us
525,600 minutes over the past year.
Surely, we will give Him more than a minute of thanks.

Surely, after all the days this past year that we really did give only one minute of thanks and then moved on to our ‘work it out for me’ list,
on Thanksgiving Day
we will slow down, breathe, behold
and spend a little more time giving thanks for ALL.

I know it will take more than a minute
because He has done more than a minute in all of our lives.

Perhaps, now is a good time to take a minute to find God’s perspective on why we will need more than a minute to say thanks!
God’s perspective is in His Word.

I’ll just get us going with a couple of Scriptures and perhaps you can join this prayer of thanks and praise by adding additional Scriptures in the comment section below. As Psalm 34:3 declares, “Oh, magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt His Name together.”

John 3:16“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.”
[God’s love, salvation, eternal and abundant life, forgiveness of sin, victory over the enemy, freedom, rescue and deliverance]

Acts 17:28a – “For in him we live and move and have our being.”
[life, breath, legs that move, hands to eat, comb hair, heart, etc.]

James 1:17 – “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.“ [family, food on table, clothes on back, roof over head, wisdom, knowledge, understanding, discernment, provision, protection, defense, refuge, healing, present help, peace, joy, pleasure, emotional health]

John 15:5– “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.
[anointing, help, abilities, skills, gifts, strength, knowledge, understanding]

Psalm24:1 -“The earth is the LORD’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it”

Deuteronomy 18:8a – “But remember the LORD your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth…”
[job, money, 401K, promotion, possessions, position]

James 1:5 – “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.

John 1:16 – “For from his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace.”

Colossians 1:13 – “For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves”

Your turn, please add additional Scriptures in the comment section below.

Surely, as Thursday approaches, we are going to need more than just a minute to give our Father and Awesome God thanks!

in everything

Bless the Lord

  1. Thanks for this. Here’s one: “By His wounds you HAVE BEEN HEALED” (1 Peter 2:24, emphasis added). Note that, since the cross and the resurrection of the second man, the man from heaven, the healing is past tense! Let’s apprehend that!

  2. How about this one? “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand! Isaiah 41:10
Thank you, Father, for keeping me no what the circumstance or situation of life.
