The Remedy

Psalm 24.8

Psalm 24:7-10 (NKJV)
Lift up your heads, O you gates!
And be lifted up, you everlasting doors!
And the King of glory shall come in.
Who is this King of glory?
The Lord strong and mighty,
The Lord mighty in battle.
Lift up your heads, O you gates!
Lift up, you everlasting doors!
And the King of glory shall come in.
10 Who is this King of glory?
The Lord of hosts,
He is the King of glory. Selah

Selah, pause and ponder!

There is an uproar in the land…people are unsettled…
there has to be answer…what are we to do for there is trouble in the land…
what is the answer for this mess?

As I was preparing to leave home this morning, I glanced over to my dresser and saw my calcium gel tablets. I have osteoporosis and cannot take the usual prescribed medications. The one thing that I can do is be faithful to what the doctor has asked of me…faithfully make sure that I am chewing at least 2-3 of those things a day. So simple…open bottle, open mouth and chew.

But I don’t…as I looked at the jar this morning, I am on my 7th day of not touching the bottle. It is to my benefit and blessing that I follow the doctor’s instruction… and yet there is this silent rebellion that refuses to accept the truth about my condition…and the remedy.

In this same way, the Lord has given us His Word that reveals the truth regarding man and his sin condition and rebellion. This condition and rebellion is really reflective at this time in our nation in divers ways. He has also given us the remedy but we treat Him and His remedy instructions the same way I do my calcium gels…with a reckless disregard.

As I was praying this morning, I heard the Lord’s conviction regarding my health and His temple. I am repentant and will walk in obedience to the remedy God has given in regards to my diagnosis of osteoporosis. I will be faithful to chewing the calcium gel tablets.

Perhaps this post will encourage the children of God to die to self, crucify the flesh, and walk in the remedy God has given us as well. I am listing a little of the medicine we need as believers of Jesus as our Lord and Savior:

Psalm 24:7-10 (NKJV)
Lift up your heads, O you gates!
And be lifted up, you everlasting doors!
And the King of glory shall come in.
Who is this King of glory?
The Lord strong and mighty,
The Lord mighty in battle.
Lift up your heads, O you gates!
Lift up, you everlasting doors!
And the King of glory shall come in.
10 Who is this King of glory?
The Lord of hosts,
He is the King of glory. Selah

2 Chronicles 7:14 (KJV)
If my people, which are called by my name,
shall humble themselves,
and pray,
and seek my face,
and turn from their wicked ways;
then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
Selah

James 4:8-9
Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.
Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.
Lament and mourn and weep!
Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom.

Galatians 5:22-25
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
24 And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.
25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

  1. How often we as humans do not see God as a remedy to the very problems that plague us. We all act like He is an ATM ready to spit out what WE want WHEN we want it.

I can completely relate to your pill analogy! Sometimes I do not like taking my seizure meds. Hmm… seizures or feel groggy? Tough choice sometimes. 😉

Blessings to you and yours, my friend!

  2. Aren’t all we humans this way? We don’t want to follow God’s instructions, the Dr’s or even our parents when we were younger. Our old sin nature loves to rear it’s ugly head.
    Thank you for this message.
    God’s Blessings!
