“Then Pharaoh gave this order to all his people:
“Every Hebrew boy that is born you must throw into the Nile, but let every girl live.”
We have to be on guard against fear because the enemy uses our fear to execute his plan. When we look at this verse, it is easy to think it is about the wickedness of one man. But even greater than that, it is about the wicked enemy who comes to steal, kill and destroy. It is about the one who was defeated at the cross whose main objective was to keep Jesus from ever reaching the cross.
This is more than one man’s agenda, it is the enemy’s desire to destroy God’s plan and purpose. Pharaoh’s fear is the ideal place to plant the seed of fear for the purpose of the total separation of man and the God who loves man and created him for His glory. The killing of every Jewish boy would have left us without a savior and no where to turn. The wage of sin is death and we were in desperate need of pure and perfect spotless lamb to shed his blood to pay our penalty. This Lamb, the Son of Man and the Son of God, came to us as a Jewish boy named Jesus.
Pharaoh thinks he is the man, that he is in charge but he is being used by the one who is waging a war that he cannot win. In fact, Colossians 2:13-15 tells us our story:
“When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, 14 having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us; He has taken it away, nailing it to the cross. 15 And having disarmed the powers and authorities, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.”
Now that we are new creatures in Christ, our lives are to be ones of faith not fear. The lesson for us is to be alert and not allow the enemy to use our fear as instruments of wickedness as he roams the earth LIKE a loin seeking who he can devour. As we have discussed before, fear can bring destruction in many ways. Be careful about ‘self’, you may think it is about you when it is the enemy working his plan through you. God is so good to give us His Word and Wisdom with such verses as “Whatever you do, do for the glory of God.” When God is the focus, when Jesus is the center of it all, it keeps the enemy out.
God has a greater plan for our lives and has given us the privilege of intimate relationship with Himself, Jesus as our greatest Treasure, and the blessing of displaying His glory. His Spirit lives in every believer to empower us as His instruments on the this earth.
Romans 6:13 – Do not offer any part of yourself to sin as an instrument of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer every part of yourself to him as an instrument of righteousness.
Praise God, satan is a defeated foe and we are victors in Christ!
Fight fear with faith as the Lord has taught us in 2 Corinthians 10:4-5
“The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world.
On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.
We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up
against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought
to make it obedient to Christ.”
WHEN FEAR SHOWS UP, ANSWER THE DOOR WITH FAITH!
