The Lord said to Aaron, “Go into the wilderness to meet Moses.” So he met Moses at the mountain of God and kissed him. 28 Then Moses told Aaron everything the Lord had sent him to say, and also about all the signs he had commanded him to perform.
It would be easy to skip right over the tender love of our God in these verses. We could move on quick and forget that this is the brother that Moses thought he would never see again. So likely, the brother that his heart ached to truly know before he ever left the palace. The brother that has stayed in Egypt and had to deal with all the talk about Moses, the so-called deliverer. And God speaks to say “it’s not over yet!”
God speaks to Aaron and starts him on his way. He had already prepared Aaron’s heart to served beside his brother. In other words, the Lord had already put this plan in motion. I could go on and on but for me, this is an absolutely awesome illustration of the Sovereign God who holds the heart of man in His hands! It so blesses my soul to behold this Great God I Am That I Am who cares so much and provides every need. Moses needs his brother and the Lord was not surprised for He knows all. He told Moses in Exodus 4:14, “He is already on his way to meet you, and his heart will be glad when he sees you.”
Surely, Moses must have wondered what Aaron would have to say, the awkwardness of the initial meeting, and the beauty of just seeing his brother’s face one more time. God has every heart in His hand and just as He had said, Aaron greets Moses with a kiss. I put myself in Moses shoes and I know this would have been a watershed moment.
Moses has so much to share about his encounter with God from the burning bush that was not consumed, the signs and wonders, and the assignment God is sending them on together. Once this is done, I am certain they caught up on the family, the people of God, and even Egypt.
What an awesome God! What tender love, grace, and mercy.
It’s a preview of what is yet to come!
I am reminded that the Lord is the God of new beginnings!
There is no talk of the past mistakes as the Lord makes all things new!
“Behold, I make all things new.”
“He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.”
It’s a new start for Moses. He now understands who is the True Deliverer,
who is the instrument, and to Who the glory belongs!
Perhaps you need a new start or a broken relationship mended or to realize God’s tender love, grace, and mercy. Once more, we are reminded that the Lord
is no respecter of persons.
Wait on Him, don’t give up and don’t give in.
Draw near to God and He will draw near to you! (James 4:8)
