God will surely come to your aid

Jeremiah 1.12

Exodus 13:19
Moses took the bones of Joseph with him because Joseph had made the Israelites swear an oath. He had said, “God will surely come to your aid, and then you must carry my bones up with you from this place.”

It is verses like this one that helps me to not cast away my confidence in God and His faithfulness to His Word and His children (Hebrews 10:35)!

I mean, just give it thought! The promise regarding Joseph’s bones goes back over 400 years, 400 long years and slavery. We might need to do the cross reference and do the additional reading to find the background of the promise BUT GOD had not forgotten. His heart and hand kept it from the day it was spoken. This day was the day of fulfillment!

Genesis 50
24 Then Joseph said to his brothers, “I am about to die. But God will surely come to your aid and take you up out of this land to the land he promised on oath to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.” 25 And Joseph made the Israelites swear an oath and said, “God will surely come to your aid, and then you must carry my bones up from this place.” 26 So Joseph died at the age of a hundred and ten. And after they embalmed him, he was placed in a coffin in Egypt.

Hebrews 11:22 says, “By faith Joseph, when his end was near, spoke about the Exodus of the Israelites from Egypt and gave instructions about his bones.” By faith Joseph trusted and believed, he was sure and certain that God held the title deed to Shechem in Canaan, the land He had promised to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob (Genesis 33:18) and at the appointed time God would deliver the Israelites out of Egypt. His instructions as he died was to not leave his coffin in Egypt but take it with them to the promised land.

After all the years of slavery and the wandering in the desert and the battles that were fought to claim the land, Joshua 24:32 tells us, And Joseph’s bones, which the Israelites had brought up from Egypt, were buried at Shechem in the tract of land that Jacob bought for a hundred pieces of silver from the sons of Hamor, the father of Shechem. This became the inheritance of Joseph’s descendants.”  Promise of the land fulfilled and Joseph buried there!

God keeps every promise. Whatever the issue of life may be, there is hope, peace, comfort and strength in His promises and there is a promise for your need. Seek His face, read and meditate upon His Word, allow Him to speak His specific promises according to your need into your heart and mind and wait on Him. Remember there is no “cut to the chase” with God…“and we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose (Romans 8:28)”…in His time. “Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need (Hebrews 4:16).”

I know, I know, I know…waiting can be so very hard…so be very certain to make your confession one of faith. Life and death are in the power of the tongue…speak in agreement with God’s Word and eat its fruit. Sing with Lauren and to God…be encouraged today! God is faithful to His Word and His children!

  1. What an encouragement in light of the times we live! Greater is He who lives in the believer than he who is in the world. We must hold fast knowing that in His time, God will work in all for good. One day we shall see Him face to face!

  2. Amen! There’s a song with words that say, “I don’t mind waiting on you, Lord.! May that be true for us all…only possible through the Word and the power of His Spirit.” May we be faithful to seek His face.
