Pharaoh’s lesson to us

Isaiah 43.7C

Exodus 14:15-18
15 The Lord said to Moses, “Why do you cry to me? Tell the people of Israel to go forward. 16 Lift up your staff, and stretch out your hand over the sea and divide it, that the people of Israel may go through the sea on dry ground. 17 And I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians so that they shall go in after them, and I will get glory over Pharaoh and all his host, his chariots, and his horsemen. 18 And the Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord, when I have gotten glory over Pharaoh, his chariots, and his horsemen.”

Very short today writing today and then the Word…Pharaoh had a hard time getting it, may it not take us as long for rebellion is costly to ourselves and others! The lesson:

We are on this earth for God’s glory, not our own!

For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will— to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves. (Ephesians 1:4-6)

I will say to the north, ‘Give them up!’and to the south, ‘Do not hold them back.’
Bring my sons from afar and my daughters from the ends of the earth—7 everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made.” (Isaiah 43:6-7)

For My own name’s sake I delay my wrath; for the sake of M praise I hold it back from you, so as not to destroy you completely. 10 See, I have refined you, though not as silver; I have tested you in the furnace of affliction. 11 For My own sake, for My own sake, I do this.  How can I let Myself be defamed? I will not yield My glory to another. (Isaiah 48:9-11) [Pharoah had a real hard time with this one. It ultimately cost him his life.]

When our ancestors were in Egypt, they gave no thought to Your miracles; they did not remember Your many kindnesses, and they rebelled by the sea, the Red Sea. Yet He saved them for His name’s sake, to make His mighty power known. (Psalm 106:7-8)

17 For Scripture says to Pharaoh: “I raised you up for this very purpose, that I might display my power in you and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth. (Romans 9:17)

18 Whoever speaks on their own does so to gain personal glory, but he who seeks the glory of the One who sent him is a man of truth; there is nothing false about him. (John 7:18)

16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven. (Matthew 5:16)

12 Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day He visits us. (1 Peter 1:12)

44 How can you believe since you accept glory from one another but do not seek the glory that comes from the only God? (John 5:44)

After Jesus said this, He looked toward heaven and prayed: “Father, the hour has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you. (John 17:1)

Therefore welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God. (Romans 15:7)

14 He [Holy Spirit] will glorify me, for he will take what is mine and declare it to you. (John 16:14)

31 So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. (1 Corinthians 10:31)

11 If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen. (1 Peter 4:11)

24 “Father, I want those You have given Me to be with Me where I am, and to see My glory, the glory You have given Me because You loved Me before the creation of the world. (John 17:24)
