I have come to lead them out

Crossing red sea

Exodus 14
19 Then the angel of God, who had been traveling in front of Israel’s army, withdrew and went behind them. The pillar of cloud also moved from in front and stood behind them, 20 coming between the armies of Egypt and Israel. Throughout the night the cloud brought darkness to the one side and light to the other side; so neither went near the other all night long.

21 Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and all that night the Lord drove the sea back with a strong east wind and turned it into dry land. The waters were divided, 22 and the Israelites went through the sea on dry ground, with a wall of water on their right and on their left.

23 The Egyptians pursued them, and all Pharaoh’s horses and chariots and horsemen followed them into the sea. 24 During the last watch of the night the Lord looked down from the pillar of fire and cloud at the Egyptian army and threw it into confusion. 25 He jammed the wheels of their chariots so that they had difficulty driving. And the Egyptians said, “Let’s get away from the Israelites! The Lord is fighting for them against Egypt.”

26 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand over the sea so that the waters may flow back over the Egyptians and their chariots and horsemen.” 27 Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and at daybreak the sea went back to its place. The Egyptians were fleeing toward it, and the Lord swept them into the sea. 28 The water flowed back and covered the chariots and horsemen—the entire army of Pharaoh that had followed the Israelites into the sea. Not one of them survived.

29 But the Israelites went through the sea on dry ground, with a wall of water on their right and on their left. 30 That day the Lord saved Israel from the hands of the Egyptians, and Israel saw the Egyptians lying dead on the shore. 31And when the Israelites saw the mighty hand of the Lord displayed against the Egyptians, the people feared the Lord and put their trust in him and in Moses his servant.

What can a person say, the crossing of the Red Sea is a flat out miracle! Oh, I know, there are people who study and search for scientific evidence of what weather phenomenon took place on the day the Israelites crossed the Red Sea. This is okay, whatever satisfies your intellectual curiosity. For me, just don’t need it. It is just simply, look at the love, grace, mercy and power of “I AM THAT I AM”, Jehovah God, the Almighty Most High God…and then smile, knowing that He is my Father! SHOUT NOW! HALLELUJAH! I really don’t need scientific proof, what happened at the Red Sea is proof enough for me to know that there is no God like Jehovah and His all-surpassing Supremacy!

I come to the Red Sea and see God’s faithfulness and commitment to His children and am reminded of these words from a previous post (The People Cry for Help):

The Lord appears to Moses and speaks…I have not forgotten you or my people in Egypt:

  • I have certainly seen their oppression
  • I have heard their cries of distress
  • I am aware of their suffering
  • I HAVE COME to rescue them
  • I HAVE COME to lead them out
  • I HAVE COME to lead into their own fertile and spacious land
  • Their cry has reached me
  • I have seen
  • Now you go, for I am sending you to Pharaoh to lead my people out”

I stand at the Red Sea and see God’s commitment to rescue His children! His commitment to destroy the enemy. Just a flat out miracle…He parts the water, stands it up in two walls, and the Israelites walk across on DRY ground. The Lord then released the water and destroyed those enemies that He had promised the Israelites that they would never see again. SHOUT NOW! No weather phenomenon caused this…it was the love of God for a people He had called unto Himself!  Hallelujah!!!

How could we stand at the Red Sea and not see Jesus!?! Jehovah God so loving the world that He gave His only begotten Son to come to our rescue and redeem us by His blood! You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:6-8). And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross (Colossians 2:15). (“The Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders and the chief priests and the scribes and be killed, and after three days rise again (Mark 8:3).”

All the while displaying His glory, verse 31, And when the Israelites saw the mighty hand of the Lord displayed against the Egyptians, the people feared the Lord and put their trust in him and in Moses his servant.”

The blessing is that God is the same yesterday, today, and forever and He remains the God who sees, knows, and is concerned for His children! His power is everlasting and The Lord is still working miracle after miracle after miracle for His children for in Him, we live, move and have our being. We can’t even walk without Him holding our hand!
HALLELUJAH!!! YES AND AMEN!!!

“I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God,
“who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty (Revelation 1:8).”
