Obedience brings blessings

Exodus 15
25 Then Moses cried out to the Lord, and the Lord showed him a piece of wood. He threw it into the water, and the water became fit to drink. There the Lord issued a ruling and instruction for them and put them to the test. 26 He said, “If you listen carefully to the Lord your God and do what is right in His eyes, if you pay attention to His commands and keep all His decrees, I will not bring on you any of the diseases I brought on the Egyptians, for I am the Lord, who heals you.” 27 Then they came to Elim, where there were twelve springs and seventy palm trees, and they camped there near the water.

The Lord provided the Israelites water revealing once again that He is I AM THAT I AM and He is sufficient for their needs. He loves and cares for them and can be trusted.

He then gives instructions and puts to put the Israelites to the test. I recently saw the following slide and believe it speaks loud as I remember that we were created for relationship and His glory.

2 John 1:6 And this is love, that we walk according to his commandments; this is the commandment, just as you have heard from the beginning, so that you should walk in it.

God created us for a love relationship that flows into a heart desire to follow (obey) the One who created and redeemed us. Abba Father who is Love and worthy of our love. 1 John 5:3 Amplified Classic says it best, For the [true] love of God is this: that we do His commands [keep His ordinances and are mindful of His precepts and teaching]. And these orders of His are not irksome (burdensome, oppressive, or grievous). Because I love He who first loved me, it is indeed my blessing to keep His precepts and teachings in my heart that I might not sin against Him. Certainly, I would not intentionally set my heart against the will of the Lord.

I also saw something of late that kinda, sorta said, ‘obedience brings blessings, exact obedience brings miracles.’ Is there an obedience that is not exact? To think we can count partial obedience as obedience is deceit. The example I like best says partial obedience is akin to being a little bit pregnant. Just not possible.

Obedience will never do us harm as obedience brings blessings from the Father.  Blessings that lead us to our healing regardless of what is in need, body, soul, or spirit. Sometimes, the complete manifestation may not be until we see Him face to face BUT let there no doubt The Lord is our Healer. Both of these verses are equally true:

Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, 21 to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.” Ephesians 3:20-21

“But, on the contrary, as the Scripture says, What eye has not seen and ear has not heard and has not entered into the heart of man, [all that] God has prepared (made and keeps ready) for those who love Him [who hold Him in affectionate reverence, promptly obeying Him and gratefully recognizing the benefits He has bestowed].” 1 Corinthians 2:9

  1. So true…in fact His commands for our lives are for our own good. That’s why they are not burdensome…they help to make us better people in the eyes of many…thanks for sharing these thoughts.
