Jesus is the Rock

1corinthians104-225x300Exodus 17
The Lord answered Moses, “Go out in front of the people. Take with you some of the elders of Israel and take in your hand the staff with which you struck the Nile, and go. I will stand there before you by the rock at Horeb. Strike the rock, and water will come out of it for the people to drink.” So Moses did this in the sight of the elders of Israel. And he called the place Massah and Meribah because the Israelites quarreled and because they tested the Lord saying, “Is the Lord among us or not?”

Verse 6, “STRIKE THE ROCK AND WATER WILL COME OUT OF IT FOR THE PEOPLE TO DRINK!

The our loving God shows us that the striking of the rock was symbolic of the death and crucifixion of Jesus the Christ.

1 Corinthians 10:1-4:
1 For I do not want you to be ignorant of the fact, brothers and sisters, that our ancestors were all under the cloud and that they all passed through the sea.
2 They were all baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea.
3 They all ate the same spiritual food
4
and drank the same spiritual drink; for they drank from the spiritual rock that accompanied them, and that rock was Christ.

 John 7:37-38
37 On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. 38 Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.”
Jesus, our Lord and Savior, beaten and nailed to a cross that water would gush forward that we would have living water, water that satisfies, the water of His Spirit. Jesus offers a never-ending supply of His Spirit that we would never thirst again. What a wonderful and awesome God He is!
“Jesus said to her, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again. But whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a fount of water springing up to eternal life.” John 4:13-14
