The Word became flesh

Peace with God

In the very beginning of time, we see God’s heart and purpose, Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness…(Genesis 126).” God created man in His image that he would experience relationship and image forth the glory of the Lord and declare His praise. It has been said that we are to make God’s name famous. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

The problem began in the Garden of Eden, the crafty enemy of man’s soul made an offer of man being famous and man receiving glory. “Did God really say (Genesis 3:1); You will not surely die (vs. 3); “For God knows that when you eat it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil (vs. 5).”

Adam and Eve fell for his deceit-hook, line, and sinker. And here we are…Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, so also death was passed on to all men, because all sinned (Romans 5:12).” We come into this world with a sin nature and we commit sin of our own.

 As it is written: “There is none righteous, no, not one;

11 There is none who understands;
There is none who seeks after God.
12 They have all turned aside;
They have together become unprofitable;
There is none who does good, no, not one.”
13 Their throat is an open tomb;
With their tongues they have practiced deceit”;
“The poison of asps is under their lips”;
14 “Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness.”
15 “Their feet are swift to shed blood;
16 Destruction and misery are in their ways;
17 And the way of peace they have not known.”
18 “There is no fear of God before their eyes.”
Romans 3:10-18 (NKJV)

The allure of our own name being great and having glory of our own was so appealing that man forfeited his personal and intimate love relationship with the One True and Living God to attain it. For the wages of sin is death…(Romans 6:23).” Instead of loving communion with the Creator God who breathed into man’s nostrils the breath of life, man’s sin separated him spiritually from His Creator and the Supreme Maker and Sustainer of true life.

What a dilemma…man separated from God with a sin debt that can only be paid with the blood of a spotless lamb and there is no man, no thing, any where on earth that qualifies. There is no understanding, no goodness, and no peace any where in sight for man…only the promise of God’s wrath.

BUT GOD steps into history because of His ‘so’ love…”For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life (John 3:16).”

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.” John 1:1-4, 14

“Who, being in very nature God,

    did not consider equality with God something
to be used to His own advantage;

rather, He made himself nothing

    by taking the very nature of a servant,

    being made in human likeness.

And being found in appearance as a man,

    He humbled himself

    by becoming obedient to death—

        even death on a cross!” Philippians 2:6-8

It is rare indeed for anyone to die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die. 8But God proves His love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. 9Therefore, since we have now been justified by His blood, how much more shall we be saved from wrath through Him! 10For if, when we were enemies of God, we were reconciled to Him through the death of His Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through His life! 11Not only so, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation (Romans 5:7-11).”

But now apart from the law the righteousness of God has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. 22 This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference between Jew and Gentile, 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. 25 God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of his blood—to be received by faith. Romans 3:21-25

    That statement is, sadly, true. Even more sad is that nothing has changed even today; we persist in insisting that things be done to our glory, and to our standards.

    The wonderful thing is that it does not have to be that way. God made Himself a man to pay the price to repair that broken relationship. Won’t you let Him restore you today?
