At the Cross

1 Tim 2.5-6
For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind,
the man Christ Jesus,
who gave himself as a ransom for all people.
This has now been witnessed to at the proper time.
  1 Timothy 2:5-6

The old hymn, At the Cross, written by Isaac Watts is in my heart today and offers the strength I need. The solid doctrine and truth found in the hymns of yesterday is worthy of our holding on to with a tight grip. I love the new songs and would miss them if they were not included in our worship services but songs like the two below can never be replaced. I pray that you will have time to read and meditate each word and receive the blessing!

At The Cross:

Alas! and did my Savior bleed
And did my Sovereign die
Would He devote that sacred head
For sinners such as I

Refrain
At the cross, at the cross where I first saw the light,
And the burden of my heart rolled away,
It was there by faith I received my sight,
And now I am happy all the day!

Was it for crimes that I had done
He groaned upon the tree
Amazing pity! grace unknown!
And love beyond degree!

Well might the sun in darkness hide
And shut his glories in,
When Christ, the mighty Maker died,
For man the creature`s sin.

1 Tim2-John 14

But drops of grief can ne`er repay
The debt of love I owe:
Here, Lord, I give my self away
`Tis all that I can do.

Down at the Cross

1 Down at the cross where my Savior died,
down where for cleansing from sin I cried,
there to my heart was the blood applied;
glory to His name!

Refrain:
Glory to His name,
glory to His name:
there to my heart was the blood applied;
glory to His name!

2 I am so wondrously saved from sin,
Jesus so sweetly abides within;
there at the cross where He took me in;
glory to His name! [Refrain]

3 Oh, precious fountain that saves from sin,
I am so glad I have entered in;
there Jesus saves me and keeps me clean;
glory to His name! [Refrain]

4 Come to this fountain so rich and sweet,
cast thy poor soul at the Savior’s feet;
plunge in today, and be made complete;
glory to His name! [Refrain]

Is Your All On The Altar

1 You have longed for sweet peace,
And for faith to increase,
And have earnestly, fervently prayed.
But you cannot have rest,
Or be perfectly blest,
Until all on the altar is laid.

Refrain:
Is your all on the altar of sacrifice laid?
Your heart does the Spirit control?
You can only be blest,
And have peace and sweet rest,
As you yield Him your body and soul.

2 Would you walk with the Lord,
In the light of His Word,
And have peace and contentment alway?
You must do His sweet will
To be free from all ill –
On the altar your all you must lay. [Refrain]

3 O we never can know
What the Lord will bestow
Of the blessings for which we have prayed,
Till our body and soul
He doth fully control,
And our all on the altar is laid. [Refrain]

4 Who can tell all the love
He will send from above,
And how happy our hearts will be made,
Of the fellowship sweet
We shall share at His feet
When our all on the altar is laid. [Refrain]

Thank you, Jesus, for the cross!
Laying my burdens down and my soul is at rest!
