I have been among the gathering of saints when the prayer included asking God for His presence. Sooner or later a “theologian” felt the need to make some type of a comment about God being Omnipresent and always present, everywhere, all the time. May, I first acknowledge this truth and say, Yes, He is!
Perhaps, just perhaps the above verse would have help the “theologian” to understand the heart of the person praying, “Seek the Lord and His strength, seek His presence continually (Psalm 105:4, ESV)!“ Selah!
I understand that “theologians” are always aware of and keep constant awareness of God’s presence BUT may I just say…that is not the case for some and I am so thankful that Psalm 105:4 encourages us to seek the Lord’s presence. I believe this person was praying for God’s manifested presence, a realization of God’s beauty, majesty, power, value, etc. in the hearts of those gathered. The only word needed is “Amen.”
This is actually something that I pray for in the mornings and throughout the day. This blog, Beholding Him Ministries in centered around seeking God’s presence and beholding His beauty, His Supreme greatness, and realizing Jesus as our greatest treasure. I pray this blog will always help someone, beginning with myself, to make a conscious choice to seek God and spend time in worship, listening to voice.
May we always seek God’s face and pray for His presence with all our hearts. May the Lord ever bless us with the grace of desiring Him instead of going through empty rituals and motions. May He grace us with a heart that desires to make a conscious effort to move past the natural to God, Himself, up-close and personal.
I believe that is what 1 Chronicles 22:19 leads us to do, “Now set your mind and heart to seek the Lord your God.” Further instruction is found in Colossians 3:1-2, “Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.” This verse tells me that I have a part, I am to direct my heart and mind towards God to move past the natural into the realm of beholding.
1 Thessalonians 5:17 instructs us to pray without ceasing and I eagerly include the manifestation of God’s presence with expectation that He will. Isaiah 55:6 tells us to, “Seek the Lord while He may be found; call on Him while He is near.”
Blessed is the Name of the Lord! I am forever grateful that He graces us with the gift of seeking and finding!
