But because You said so…5

“…He said to Simon, “Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch.” Simon answered, “Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets.”   Luke 5:4-5

For just a second Peter has forgotten – so he objects, he says, Master, we worked all night and haven’t caught anything. It’s been a long night, I’m tired, there’s no fish here and I’m…and then he stops right in the middle of his objection and says, “But Because You said so” I will let down the nets. The KJV translation says, “nevertheless at Your Word, I will let down the nets.”

I’ve been here all night but because You said so…

I’m tired and weary, all I want right now is some rest…nevertheless at Your Word, I’ll go back out…

Because it’s You, Lord – I gonna be obedient to Your Word…Your way, Your plan…

Since I’ve seen You heal the sick and cast out demons…

Since You have been faithful to everything you said…

Since You’ve proven Yourself over and over…

I am determined, my mind is fixed, I’m going to trust You at Your Word.

Have you come to that point in your life…that as you walk through life, you are talking with the Lord, leaning not in Your own understanding and agreeing with the Lord, “because it’s You, Lord?”

Because I know Your love, Your grace, Your mercy…since I know You have never failed and never will…because all Your ways are perfect…since I know You want to prosper me and not harm me, to give me hope and a future…because you humbled yourself to lay in a manger for me, to die on a cross, to be separated from the Father for me, in spite of me…

Because You said so Lord, nevertheless at Your Word, I am resolved that in Your power and In Your Name and for Your glory, I’m going to trust You, walk in obedience and do it Your way!

Some of us believe that our intelligence is greater than the wisdom of God – but saints God has told us our thoughts are not His thoughts and our ways are not His ways – and sadly sometimes we allow the enemy to deceive us into believing that our intelligence, our thoughts, our ways is to be the authority in our lives, our families, and even the church.  But it would be wise to see what God says about this in 1Cor 1:19-20, “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate.  He says where is the wise man?  Where is the scholar? Where is the philosopher of this age?  Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?” Amen.  In other words, the world’s wisdom and ways has no place in the life of a Christian or in the Church of the Living God.  Amen.  Verse 25 says for the foolishness of God is wiser than man’s wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than man’s strength. Amen.

You see, just for a moment Peter was foolish enough to believe that he was wiser than God.  Just for a moment Peter thought to himself “who is this carpenter to tell me, a career fisherman, how to fish” but he quickly came to his senses and recognized that all his knowledge and all of his buddies knowledge put together was no match for the wisdom of Jesus.  Amen

He was quick to say, but because You said so.  Amen.

Maybe you’re objecting to something right now- with no Scriptural basis for your objection, you can do just like Peter, stop in your tracks, repent, and say “But because You say so, Nevertheless at Your Word.”

The question is have you come to the point where Because God said so is enough? We have to learn how to press in and be committed to the Word of God.  2 Chronicles 16:9, “For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to Him.”
