Saul also went to his home at Gibeah, and with him
went men of valor whose hearts God had touched. 1 Samuel 10:26
This verse was part of my devotions recently and God touched my heart to remember the true nature of the battles we face as believers. “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm (Ephesians 6:12-13).”
The Lord reminded me to look to Him for the battles, struggles, and disappointments of life for He can make my heart one of valor. Our God is so powerful that He can touch weak, fearful, and discouraged hearts and turn them to hearts with great courage, boldness, and determination when facing the enemy’s fiery darts.
So I pray that no matter the fiery trial you are facing, no matter the fear that floods your mind, the disappointment or discouragement that overwhelms- for God to touch your heart and my heart with the courage, boldness, and determination to stand on the promises of God.
“Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial when it comes upon you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. 13 But rejoice insofar as you share Christ’s sufferings, that you may also rejoice and be glad when his glory is revealed. 14 If you are insulted for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you.” 1 Peter 4:12-14
“Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. 9 Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings. 10 And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. 11 To him be the power for ever and ever. Amen.” 1 Peter 5:8-11
“Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil (Ephesians 6:11).”
“…indeed you continue in the faith, stable and steadfast, not shifting from the hope of the gospel that you heard, which has been proclaimed in all creation under heaven, and of which I, Paul, became a minister (Colossians 1:23).”
“Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong (1 Corinthians 16:13).
“Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand (Ephesians 6:13).”
