Hold firmly to your confidence

Hebrews 3.6But Christ is faithful as the Son over God’s house. And we are his house, if indeed we hold firmly to our confidence and the hope in which we glory. Hebrews 3:6

As we read the Book of Hebrews, there is one main theme that we never move from and that is Jesus as the Superior One and the One who is faithful in His appointment from God.

Today’s verse is reminder that Christ’s faithfulness should spur us on to faithfulness as well.. We come back to the word “confidence” and we are encouraged to hold firm to our faith. This verse teaches us that perseverance in faithfulness proves out they we do indeed, have real faith.

Galatians 5:22 came to by heart as I meditated on this verse for faithfulness is fruit of the Holy Spirit who lives in us.

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. 24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. Galatians 5:22-25

Faithfulness comes forth as we abide in Christ. It bears evidence that we are in fact, new creatures in Christ who walk by faith and not sight as we hold fast to the Word of God no matter what (NMW):

and you will be hated by all for My name’s sake. But the one who endures to the end will be saved. Matthew 10:22

As for that in the good soil, they are those who, hearing the word, hold it fast in an honest and good heart, and bear fruit with patience. Luke 8:15

So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, “If you abide in My word, you are truly My disciples. John 8:31

Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in Me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing. If anyone does not abide in Me he is thrown away like a branch and withers; and the branches are gathered, thrown into the fire, and burned. John 15:4-6

The blessing is that we don’t have to do it alone. We have hope because we have placed our hope in Jesus Christ, the Superior One. Look at God promises that:

23 Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 24 He who calls you is faithful; He will surely do it. 1 Thessalonians 5:24

24 Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you blameless before the presence of his glory with great joy, 25 to the only God, our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion, and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen. Jude 24-25

So very thankful for the hope we have in Christ, faithful One!

Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. Romans 5:1-2

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, who by God’s power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials, so that the tested genuineness of your faith—more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire—may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ. Though you have not seen him, you love him. Though you do not now see him, you believe in him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory, obtaining the outcome of your faith, the salvation of your souls. 1 Peter 1:3-9

Jude 24-25

Thank you, Jesus for Your faithfulness! May we not quench Your Spirit who lives in us and bear the fruit of faithfulness causing Your glory to be on display NMW!
