as the Holy Spirit says…

hebrews-3-7a.jpgTherefore, as the Holy Spirit says,

“Today, if you hear His voice,

do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion,

on the day of testing in the wilderness,

where your fathers put me to the test

and saw my works for forty years.

10 Therefore I was provoked with that generation,

and said, ‘They always go astray in their heart;

they have not known My ways.’

11 As I swore in My wrath,

‘They shall not enter My rest.’”

We read Hebrews 3:7-19 on yesterday, the verses are so very rich in doctrine and application. I am praying but believe that there will be several posts on these 13 verses. Simple posts, but these verses dare not be rushed over for we will find blessing, encouragement, strength, warning, and victory. I am asking God’s help in keeping the posts short so we not to crowd your day.

We looked at the “therefore” on yesterday (Therefore – Hebrews 3:7-19).   With “therefore” settled in our minds and hearts, the writer of Hebrews causes us to remember who is speaking in the present text and the Word He has already spoken.

“As the Holy Spirit says…” The application is so simple and right before us as He speaks today. The Holy Spirit spoke in the Scripture quoted above, He is speaking in the Book of Hebrews and all the Bible, and He speaks to our minds and hearts today!

How we need to understand this truth in this day of deception. The enemy of man’s soul that is the devil, has sown a spirit of anti-God, anti-Jesus, anti-Bible in the land. I pray the Lord would help those who have received this lie to come to realize that any notion of the Word of God being outdated, relative, subjective is from the satan.

Let me share just a little of his resume as I pray that God would release blinded eyes even right now:

“Be sober-minded;  be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around  like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.” 1 Peter 5:8

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. Jon 10:10

In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ,  who is the image of God. 2 Corinthians 4:4

You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies. John 8:44

Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. 2 Corinthians 11:14b

Now, please compare the truth about satan to the truth we have seen about God in just these past chapters of Hebrews, (Therefore – Hebrews 3:7-19) and remember that it is just a tiny representation of the One True and Living God. Every person most make their own decsion- who you will believe, who will you worship, who you will follow, who will be God in your life. I have deliberately said “in your life” because every man should know that our lack of belief does not effect the Truth that the LORD is God. His name is Jehovah and He is the Maker and Supreme Ruler of heaven and earth. The earth is His and the fullness thereof, the world and all who dwell therein (Psalm 24:1). One God, three persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

The writer of Hebrews who in absolute Truth is God Himself want us to know that He is speaking when we read Hebrews, Genesis, Romans, Matthew, in all 66 books. It is a choice that every man must make for himself…God has no grandchildren. In the words of Joshua, “But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve…but as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord (Joshua 24:15).” It is my desire to be no more than 750 words…I pray that God will speak through the following images to help every man make the choice of Jesus!

2 Timothy 3.162 Peter 1.21Hebrews 4.12Matthew 24.35Numbers 23.19Jeremiah 1.12sun and rain

O Heavenly Father, come with Your quickening power and cause Your Word to live in our hearts that we would love You with our all and live for Your glory! In Jesus Name, Amen.

I have always loved this verse! I often stop to wonder just how many households keep this verse tucked away in their hearts.

    Blessings today, Pat!

    1. Amen! I pray so, these are difficult days and one must have the determination and faith to say I am going all the way with the Lord! Your words remind me the Psalmist, Your Word have I hidden in my heart that I may not sin against Thee. Asking the Lord to help us to do just that! I bless you today…always my blessing to hear your voice. 🙂
