Advent – Preparing my heart for CHRISTmas

advent-2016

Yesterday was the first Day of Advent and I am excited!

The season of Advent is such a blessing to my heart. It helps me not to get wrapped up in the busyness of Christmas but to focus on Jesus and the worship of CHRISTmas. For unto to us a child was born, unto us THE SON was given. Advent causes me to make a deliberate journey of being intentional in regards to meditating upon the Word of God. I will do this so that I will truly celebrate the One worthy of praise, honor, and glory during this season of CHRISTmas, Jesus the Christ!

SSSsssoooo, I will pause our Hebrews postings and focus on sharing what God is speaking through my Advent devotions. Blessed be the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world (John 1:29).

Today’s Advent devotional at church spoke of Jesus being the Wonderful Counselor. It stated that in Scripture, the word wonderful is only used of God, never of man. I am not sure that I had ever given attention to this before but this I do know, it will change my use of the word wonderful forever. The devotional questioned if Jesus was wonderful to me or had I lost my wonder.

Jesus is wonderful to me. There is none other like Him…I bow before Him in awe and reverential fear. I bow surrendered and satisfied. He is more than my mind can begin to conceive.

His name is wonderful; His name is wonderful
His name is wonderful; Jesus my Lord

He is the mighty King; Master of everything
His name is wonderful; Jesus my Lord

His name is wonderful; His name is wonderful
His name is wonderful; Jesus my Lord

Bow down before Him; Love and adore Him
His name is wonderful; Jesus my Lord

He’s the great Shepherd;
The Rock of all ages
Almighty God is He

Bow down before Him; Love and adore Him
His name is wonderful; Jesus my Lord

His name is wonderful; His name is wonderful
His name is wonderful; Jesus my Lord

He is the mighty King; Master of everything
His name is wonderful; Jesus (my Lord) my Lord

He is wonderful
Jesus my Lord

Oh Heavenly Father, the Great God I Am. Thank you for Jesus. The Wonder of the world. I bless you that is Name is Wonderful and His grace sufficient for our need. In Jesus Name, Amen!

For unto us a Child is born,
Unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6
